James R. Singleton of Los Alamitos was among approximately 1,500 Virginia Military Institute cadets who marched in this year’s presidential Inaugural Parade on Jan. 21.
The Corps of Cadets marched through the heart of Washington D.C., from the U.S. Capitol Building to the reviewing stand at the White House. The Corps was the final group in the parade, passing the president in review at about 6:30 p.m.
The cadets’ participation marked the 14th time that the VMI Corps of Cadets has marched in a presidential Inaugural Parade.

The Cypress and La Palma Recreation and Community Services are looking for models for the 7th Annual Teen Fashion Scene.
Guys and girls who are 13-18 years old are being sought after to model clothes from some of the most popular clothing and apparel stores for the Teen Fashion Scene to be held on March 16.
Model applications are now available at the Cypress Community Center, 5700 Orange Ave. and at the La Palma Community Center, 7821 Walker Street. Deadline to turn in your application is Feb. 1 at 5 p.m., to the Cypress Community Center.
Applicants will be notified with their audition time.

The Cypress College Foundation recently announced its American Award winners as Citizens of the Year for local cities. Haze Saliture of Cypress, John Alvis of La Palma and Theresa Murphy of Los Alamitos will be honored at the Feb. 23 banquet at the Disneyland Hotel.
