Due to congestion at the Laurel Park parking lot, the Los Alamitos City Council voted to install a 3-hour limit at the park, during a special meeting on Monday.
The new ordinance came as a result of the lot being filled most of the day, presumably due to all the construction in the area. Staff reports stated that cars were observed pulling in throughout the day, only to find the lot full and have to back out back onto Bloomfield avenue and creating a safety hazard.
The three-hour limit was approved by a 4-1 vote, with Dean Grose voting against the resolution. The limit will be in place for two years, at which time, the city will revist the issue to see if it is still necessary.
City staff will now begin the process of posting signs, informing visitors of the new ordinance.
