Cypress and Kennedy High football teams will renew the rivalry between the two schools on Friday at 7 p.m. at Western High School.
Cypress is slated as the home team this year. Cypress has defeated their rivals the past five years, but Kennedy looks improved this year and is coming off a 43-24 win over Pacifica last week in their Empire League opener. Cypress had a bye last week and this will be their league opener.
Kennedy has not beaten Cypress since 2007, when they defeated the Centurions, 30-20. Since then Cypress has won five straight by a combined score of 159-66. Could this be the year the Fighting Irish regain bragging rights?
